Wayne C. Sisco
Wayne C. Sisco, 81, of Venango Township died early Monday afternoon shortly after arrival at United Community Hospital in Grove City after suffering a heart attack at his home.
Born in Higgins Corners, Venango Township, May 24, 1924, he was the son of John and Julia Woolcutt Sisco.
In early years, he worked at the Michigan Steel Corp. in Boyers. He then worked at the Ellwood City operation of U.S. Steel, from where he retired.
He was a World War II Army veteran and primarily served at Fort Eustis, Va.
Mr. Sisco was a longtime member of the Argentine United Methodist Church, where he had been Sunday school superintendent for more than 30 years, a trustee for years and served as a substitute Sunday school teacher. Following the closing of his beloved church, he and his wife became affiliated with the Stone Church in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, near Eau Claire.
Since 1990, he and his wife provided a musical ministry at nursing homes. On the first Sunday of the month they would be at the Autumn Grove Health Care in Harrisville, and on the last Sunday of the month they served at Laurel Manor in Emlenton. They also served with their musical ministry at churches and other social gatherings when called upon.
Wayne could always be recognized with his familiar western hat and vest.
Surviving are his wife, Myrna McKee Sisco, whom he married June 24, 1944; and three daughters, Mrs. Ron (June) Klein and Julia Chorle, both of Hilliards, and Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Hetzler of West Sunbury. He also is survived by eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
As the last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. A grandson also preceded him in death.
SISCO - Friends of Wayne C. Sisco, who died Monday, July 18, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Eau Claire. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Scrubgrass Stone Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Bright officiating. Burial will be at Mount Varnum Cemetery, Washington Township.
