A Pittsburgh man had an additional five months tacked onto his sentence for smuggling a cellphone into the Butler County Prison, according to the state attorney general.

Lajwan McMillan, 31, was sentenced to 18 months of incarceration for violating the conditions of his federal supervised release three days before officials discovered the cellphone in his possession by officials at the Butler jail.

Following the discovery, United States Chief District Judge Mark Hornak sentenced McMillan to an additional five months of incarceration for possessing contraband, United States Attorney Eric Olshan announced in a Monday, May 6 news release.

According to the news release, federal inmates are forbidden from possessing phones.

Brendan Conway, an assistant United States attorney, prosecuted this case with assistance from United States Marshals Service, Butler County Detective Bureau and officials at the Butler County Prison.
