S. Ward McCollough

S. Ward McCollough, 90, a 28-year resident of Medina, Texas, died Aug. 13 at a hospital in Kerrville, Texas. He previously lived in Dickinson, Texas.

Born Aug. 19, 1913, in Chicora, he was the son of Oliver Merle and Elizabeth Hannah Garing McCollough.

He was an Army corporal during World War II.

Mr. Ward was co-founder of the Mineral Oil Refining Co. and had been employed at the Pennsylvania Refining Co. for 10 years. He also was president of the Dickinson School Board for 12 years.

He was a member of the Medina United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, Medina Masonic Lodge 1319, a past district deputy grand master, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a York Rite Mason, and belonged to the Red Cross Constantine. He also was a member of the Texas Manufacturing Association and the N.R.A.His wife, Elva Powell McCollough, whom he married Sept. 21, 1939, in Butler, died Feb. 24, 2001.He is survived by his daughter, Janice K. McCollough of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Lee W. McCollough and his wife, Donna, of Dickinson and Dr. Randy F. McCollough and his wife, Paula, of San Angelo, Texas; a sister, Beryle E. Edwards of Chicora; four brothers, Alfred H. McCollough of Punta Gorda, Fla., the Rev. Edward C. McCollough of Warren, Pa., Les McCollough of Florida and Stanley A. McCollough of Chicora. Also surviving are grandchildren, Marla Leissner and her husband, Taft; Brian W., Nicole E., Jennifer E., Scott A., Anne M. and Samuel Ward McCollough; and Whitney A. Parrish.

-Funeral services for S. Ward McCollough, who died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, were held Aug. 16 at Medina United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Zirkel and the Rev. Bill Steyemueller officiating.
