Construction worker hit by excavator Wednesday
A construction worker was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning, May 8, after he was hit by an excavator in a construction zone in Center Township.
Bradley Wheeler, 29, of Grove City, was was struck by a Komatsu excavator around 9:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Sunset Drive.
State police said the vehicle ran over Wheeler’s foot, ankle and lower leg. He was standing behind the excavator and out of view its driver, police said.
The operator of the excavator was Evan Frantz, 38, of Butler.
Wheeler was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to a medical helicopter, which flew him to Allegheny General Hospital to be treated for suspected serious injuries, according to state police.
