Those who have visited the Butler Walmart over the past couple months have probably noticed a few design changes around the store.

On Friday morning, May 17, those changes were officially welcomed by Walmart leadership and Butler County officials, as people gathered for a ribbon cutting at 400 Butler Commons.

Those changes include a newly structured check out line system for customers, along with an expanded online pickup area, an expanded pharmacy, an added Grab-and-Go section near the grocery area and more.

“I really appreciate the community coming out in full force today to support this,” said Angela Fleeger, Butler Walmart store manager. “What I am most proud of is being able to turn over a brand new updated facility for our customers and a new working environment for our associates.”

Fleeger said the Butler Walmart’s sales have been increasing by $30 million each of the past three years, due in part to an increased demand for its online shopping services.

“As far as moving the digital area all the way to the other side of the store, we expanded the backroom capability,” Fleeger said. “We will now be able to expand up to 850 orders now per day. We were capped off before and now we can expand. Right now we are just over 600.”

The new online pick up area is now near the automotive side of the store, with more than 50 parking spots dedicated for the operation.

The Butler Walmart was built in 2002, Fleeger said, and it employs around 400 associates.

During the event, the Butler Walmart presented 27 of its associates who have been with the store for more than 20 years with awards for their dedication. Some have been employed by the company for more than 30 years.

“I am so proud of our associates and team who have worked so hard to make this possible today,” Fleeger said.

In addition, the Butler Walmart presented three charitable grants to local groups, such as $5,000 to Butler County Veterans In Need, $5,000 to the Butler Township Police Department and $7,500 to the Butler County Tourism Foundation.

“Every year we give a tremendous amount back to the community,” Fleeger said. “I think we have an obligation as a corporation to give back to the communities that we serve.”

The event was attended by local Butler County organizations and elected officials, such as the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau and Butler Township officials.

“We come to Angela (Fleeger) to help with so many things in the community,” said Jordan Grady, president of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, as he addressed the crowd. “I would like to thank Walmart for the investment in this store for the remodel. We are very proud of the Butler Walmart.”
