Shirley E. Warfield, 88, of Hamstead, N.C., formerly of Emlenton, died Friday.

Mrs. Warfield was born on July 2, 1923, in Chicago, the daughter of Felix and Edith Kelley Spencer.

She graduated from Allegheny High School, and had attended St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Clarion County.

She was an avid Steelers fan, was employed at the former Pittsburgh Press, and enjoyed reading, being outdoors and fishing with her late husband. Shirley enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley married her late husband, Evan W. Warfield in 1950. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Evan W.

Surviving are a son, Spencer E. Warfield of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brandon A. Warfield, Evan W. Warfield, Mitchell K. (April) Warfield; Amanda L. (Travis) Matassa and Rachel A. Warfield; and six great-grandchildren.
