Herbert Hooks

Herbert Dale Hooks, 77, of Templeton, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Kittanning, and was the son of Violet Ruffaner and Ivan Hooks. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was a retired chief warrant officer four in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Herbert also formerly worked at the Butler Army Reserve Center, and he was a mechanic and partner in Hooks & Toy Auto Repair in Worthington for many years. He attended Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian. He was a pilot and loved to hunt and fish.

Herbert leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Claypoole of Kittanning; and his son, Herb (Marylou) Hooks II of Templeton; partner, Margaret Bowser of Templeton; grandchildren, Stephanie Claypoole (fiancé, Ryan), Tori (Rich) Black, Andrew (Tiffany) Claypoole, Megan (Brian) Oesterling, Jenna Hooks, Nikki Hooks and Emily Hooks; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Prue Burke of Worthington; and brother, Amos (Linda) Hooks of Hadley, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice K. Hooks; second wife, Elizabeth Hooks; infant daughter, Kristy Dianne Hooks; and brother-in-law, John Burke.

HOOKS — Viewing for Herbert Dale Hooks, who died Friday, May 24, 2024, was held privately by the family at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning.

Interment will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
