Two injured in Butler crash

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon at SouthMain and Wayne streets in Butler.

Two people were injured in a suspected drunken driving crash Sunday afternoon at South Main and Wayne streets in Butler, city police said.

The wreck happened about 12:30 p.m. when a Buick Lacrosse driven by John J. Jackson, 43, of Butler, which was traveling north slammed into the right rear of a northbound Dodge Ram pickup that was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection.

The car left extensive skid marks on the road before impacting the truck, authorities said. Jackson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, according to Butler police.

Jackson’s passenger, a man, was injured when his head struck the inside of the windshield, leaving a large spider-web type crack. An accident report was not immediately available and police did not release his name.

A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to the man before he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of an unknown head injury.

Jackson appeared to have only minor cuts. The other driver was apparently not injured. Police not release his name.

The Butler Fire Department assisted at the scene.
