West Sunbury man accused of stealing nearly $500 in candy bars

A West Sunbury man was accused of stealing almost $500 worth of candy bars in a span of five months, according to documents filed Monday, June 3.

Kenneth J. Glass, 77, was charged with misdemeanor theft after police said surveillance footage showed him removing Paydays and Peanut Chews from the Sheetz in Slippery Rock multiple times a week.

Police said they were alerted to the alleged thefts April 22 by a manager, who said Glass would enter the store between 1 and 5 a.m., put candy bars in his pockets, make other purchases, and leave.

Documents showed Glass was caught in the act May 30.

Police accused Glass of 71 thefts totaling $497.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled July 17.
