Seneca Valley juniors accepted into summer research programs
Three Seneca Valley High School juniors recently were accepted into summer programs that will allow them to conduct research with experts across different scientific disciplines.
Isabella Muthler will attend the scholarship-based Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon as part of a five-week summer residential program that emphasizes cooperative learning, hands-on laboratory research, and experience working with experts and university staff.
Eric Chen will attend the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Academy, an eight-week summer program that engages students in cancer research in laboratories. At the end of the program, each scholar delivers a 10-minute presentation and participates in a symposium.
Heather Schwartz will attend the five-week Summer Science Program (SSP) in Astrophysics at New Mexico State University. Heather also was named a National Cyber Scholar by National Cyber Scholarship Foundation this year. Earlier this month, she was elected chief supreme court justice for this year’s PA Youth and Government program.
