Margaret Taylor Kress
Margaret Taylor Kress, 86, of Middlesex Township died Tuesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
Born Aug. 20, 1930, in McDonald, Pa., she was the daughter of John E. and Margaret Stilly Taylor.
She had been a librarian at Butler Public Library and also had worked as a substitute librarian at South Butler and Shaler School districts. Formerly she was employed by U.S. Steel Corp. in downtown Pittsburgh. Her last employment was as a case worker with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Resources, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Kress graduated from Butler High School in 1948 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She earned a postbaccalaureate degree in library science from Slippery Rock University.
Margaret also had volunteered at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Kress, who she married March 23, 1957. He died May 1, 1977.
Survivors include her son, Paul T. Kress of Middlesex Township; her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Douglas Bartley of Wheeling, W.Va.; three granddaughters, Jennifer Fox and her husband, Steven, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Megan Luciano and her husband, Christopher, of Orlando, Fla., and Kathleen Bartley of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and one great-granddaughter, Emery Fox.
