Teen killed in Fairview Township crash Thursday
A 19-year-old from North Huntingdon was killed in a Thursday morning, June 13, crash on Kittanning Pike near its intersection with Ridgeview Drive in Fairview Township.
Josiah J. Pastories was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after the Mitsubishi Outlander that he was driving struck a tree, police said.
Pastories’ vehicle was traveling north on Kittanning Pike at around 6:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a right curve, police said. The vehicle drove into the opposite lane of travel, down a slope and struck a tree, according to police. The 19-year-old was found dead at the scene.
Police said Pastories was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Kittanning Pike was closed between its intersections with Route 68 and Trimbur Road while state police investigated. Crews remained on scene for over three hours.
The Butler County coroner, Karns City Regional Ambulance Service, Chicora and Petrolia volunteer fire departments, and Sugarcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Armstrong County, also responded to the scene.
