Cranberry Public Library hosts local author

CRANBERRY TWP — Local author Jolene McIlwain will speak and read a selection from her newest collection of stories, “Sidle Creek,” on Tuesday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road.

Selected for a “Best Book of the Year” award by NPR and Library Journal, “Sidle Creek” is a collection of 22 stories set in the Appalachian hills of Western Pennsylvania and explores themes of class, work, trauma, health and human connectivity within tight-knit communities.

Additionally, McIlwain has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, Best Small Fiction and Best American Short Stories. Her works have appeared in several literary journals.

Copies of “Sidle Creek” will be available for purchase and signing at the event through the Little Green Bookstore.
