CENTER TWP — A car burst into flames and three people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Oneida Valley and Pine Tract roads, which was reported around 2 p.m., Saturday June 15.

According to Gary Wulff, chief of Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company, a woman extricated herself from one of the cars when it caught fire.

Wulff described the vehicle as “fully engulfed” in flames by the time the fire department arrived on scene at 2:15 p.m. The woman was transported to the hospital by Butler Ambulance Service.

The two occupants of the other car were also were taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle, and were not at the scene when the fire department had arrived.

Wulff noted that the passenger sides of both vehicles were struck in the crash.

Both vehicles were observed at the scene to have sustained significant damage. As flaggers rerouted traffic along the portion of Oneida Valley Road close to the crash, members of Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company helped clear debris.

The incident is under investigation by state police, Wulff said. A state trooper was observed talking to a motorist who had witnessed the incident.

Unionville Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the scene.
