Helen Gilbert Beck
Mrs. Helen Gilbert Beck, 90, of Newhaven Court, Butler, formerly of Shanor Manor, passed away Sunday at 11:50 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Holbrook, Pa., Nov. 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James Frank Gilbert and Laura Morris Gilbert.
Mrs. Beck was a homemaker and a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church.
She was a lover of nature, especially birds. Helen had a chickadee at her home that she fed by hand. She loved tending to her wildflowers, and up until her death, she still walked up to two miles daily at Moraine State Park or the Jennings Environmental Center. She was a great supporter of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Richard Beck, who she married on Sept. 15, 1945, and who passed away on June 30, 2002. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Raymond Gilbert.
She is survived by two daughters, Billie Ann Moser and her husband, Tom, of Murrysville and Christine L. Lamotte and her husband, Darrell, of Butler.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Beck of Youngstown; one sister, Lillian Stockdale of Decatur, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews
<B>BECK — </B>Friends and family of Helen Beck, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, will be received at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME,</B> 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial service will be scheduled for sometime in January.
