Joseph Cherenko

Joseph Cherenko, 85, of Valencia passed peacefully unto the Lord Saturday.

He was the beloved husband of Lillian Kotyk Cherenko for 55 years.

Joe was born Dec. 27, 1932. He was the son of the late Paul and Rose Hulsin Cherenko.

Joe was a 1950 graduate of Ambridge High School and a 1954 graduate of Carnegie Technical School as a chemical engineer.

He had been employed by Callery Chemical and retired in 1988 from PPG Research in Harmar Township, where he was a scientist in the lab.

Joe was an artist and did oil painting. He was an amateur photographer and loved all kinds of music. He made many cassette tapes, which he enjoyed in his later years. He also had an avid interest in electronics.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian; his brother-in-law, Daniel (Karen) Kotyk; grandnieces, Krissy (Frank) Keegan and Sydney and Alexis Kotyk; grandnephews, Daniel (Tricia) Kotyk and Colin, Brian, Conner and Brandon Keegan; and his cousins, Joyce Sarchman and Gregg and Warren Winslow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Steve and Mary Sedlitsky Kotyk; his brother-in-law, Charles and Dolores Kotyk Del Bene; and his aunts and cousins.

CHERENKO — Friends of Joseph Cherenko, who died Saturday, March 10, 2018, will be received from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
