Paul J. Lauer, 82, of Saxonburg died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 22, 1924, in Butler, he was the son of Sylvester and Margaret McCrory Lauer.

During World War II, he served with the Marine Corps in the Pacific and fought in the Battle of Okinawa.

He had been a gang leader at the US Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg and retired in 1982.

Mr. Lauer was a member of Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Co. and Saxonburg VFW Post 7376.

Surviving are three sons, Joe Lauer of Clintonville, Jeff Lauer of Cabot and Bob Lauer of Gurnee, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Karen) Fair of Saxonburg, Mrs. Van (Linda) Kozik of Butler and Mrs. Otto (Christina) Kessler of Mount Lebanon; two brothers, Al Lauer of Punxsutawney and Bob Lauer of California; and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Hoffman and Mrs. Lucille Manners, both of Punxsutawny.

He also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were four sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.

<B>LAUER</B> — Friends of Paul J. Lauer, who died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Saxonburg Area Library, P.O.
