AHN begins phase 3 clinical trial for new ovarian cancer therapy
Allegheny Health Network reached a major benchmark by becoming the first U.S. health care organization to start with Phase 3 of a clinical trial for a novel treatment for low-grade serous ovarian cancer, a rare type of ovarian cancer.
The treatment being evaluated is a combination of the drugs avutometinib and defactinib. Patients can now enroll in the trial, which is being jointly managed by the AHN Cancer Institute and the AHN Women’s Institute.
About 6,000 women in the United States are suffering from the rare cancer.
