BuffaloTwp. man dies after accident

BUFFALO TWP — A township man died early Thursday morning after his car collided with a tractor-trailer on Ekastown Road a few hours earlier.

According to township police, Karl D. Thompson, 26, was pronounced dead at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh at 1:04 a.m.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office told police the cause of death was injuries to his head and body.

Police report Thompson’s car pulled from another road into the path of the truck. The accident was reported to the Butler County 911 dispatch center at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the 911 report, Thompson had to be extricated from his vehicle.

The truck driver, whose name was unavailable, also suffered injuries.

Thompson was a 2005 graduate of Lenape Vocational-Technical School. He worked for Jackson Heating.

His funeral will be Monday. His obituary is on Page 6.
