Marjorie M. Young Currie, 94, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was a member of Faith Country Chapel and before her death was greatly looking forward to meeting her Lord and Savior.

Born Feb. 16, 1930, in Princeton, Pa., she was the daughter of Ralph M. and Beulah M. (Brown) McConnell.

Marjorie was preceded in death in 1973 by her first husband, John E. Young. She subsequently married Ralph H. Currie on March 9, 2004, who survives at home.

Years ago, she worked inventory for 16 years at New Castle Auto Parts, until gaining employment in 1989 with the YMCA.

Being outdoors, enjoying her flowers, traveling and being in the company of good people were some of her varied interests.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Currie; children, Patricia (Gordon) DeRoo of Zeeland, Mich., Janet (Stanley) Litwinowicz of Statesville, N.C., and Paul (Pam) Young of Bastrop, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Mary Jane and Brian Currie. She is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Young; her parents, Ralph and Beulah Brown McConnell; brothers, Howard McConnell and Kenneth McConnell; and stepson, Kevin Currie.

YOUNG CURRIE — Visitation for Marjorie M. Young Currie, who died Sunday, June 23, 2024, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Doolittle, of Faith Country Chapel, officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
