Alphonse C. Bailey

Alphonse C. "Fonnie" Bailey, 87, of Grove City, formerly of Montoursville, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at his home.

Born April 25, 1920, in Franklin, he was a son of Robert O. and Frances M. Simons Bailey.

He was a World War IIArmy veteran. He had been a truck driver for Milk Transport of Grove City, a bus driver for Continental Trailways and a truck driver for the former Bowie Coal Co.

Mr. Bailey was a member of the First Church of God of Grove City. He also belonged to the Montoursville F&AM Lodge 335 and the Amalgamated Transit Union.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha A. Howard of Grove City and Fonnie Lynn Womer and her companion, John Saltsman, of Montoursville; a son, Robert A. Bailey and his wife, Lisa, of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two siblings, Hannh J. Bowser and Richard O. Bailey, both of Grove City.

His wife, Lois Jean Rauschenbach Bailey, who he married Dec. 1, 1967, died Aug. 11, 2007. He also was preceded in death by four siblings, Ann Rosner, John A., Frederick L. and James A. Bailey.

<B>BAILEY</B> — Friends of Alphonse C. "Fonnie" Bailey, who died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 M. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. G. Kenton Shaw, pastor of the Wayside Community Church of Mercer, officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Cemetery,Harrisville.
