John E. 'Jack' Heinzer

Heinzer

John E. "Jack" Heinzer, 60, of Marietta, Ga., died Monday.

A native of Butler, he was the son of the late Dr. Norman H. and Jane Eyth Heinzer.

A 1964 graduate of Butler High School, he served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force.

He attended Butler County Community College and the University of Akron, where he studied electronics. He had a long career in facilities management.

Mr. Heinzer's passions were his grandchildren, computers and technology, the Discovery Channel and his dogs, Sophie and Rodney. An accomplished craftsman, he was truly a "Jack of all Trades." He also was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves supporter.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Marietta.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Marcia Wellner Heinzer; a son, Michael Heinzer of Woodstock, Ga; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Bruce Sills of Mableton, Ga.; granddaughters, Katherine Grace and Ellie Jane Sills; his brothers, Norman H. Heinzer Jr. of Milford, Mass., and Thomas L. Heinzer of San Jose, Calif.; his sisters, Evelyn Cooper of Lawrenceville, Ga., Norma Jane McDonald of Gibsonia and Anita Ritzert and Nanci Scruggs, both of Kennesaw, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

<B>HEINZER </B>— A memorial service for John E. "Jack" Heinzer, who died Monday, June 18, 2007, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Grunke officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Cobb County, 148 Fairground Street, S.E., Marietta, GA 30060.Arrangements are by the <B>H.M.
