Police, firefighters and medical personnel were called to the intersection of Route 8 and Hall Road in Brady Township around 4 p.m. Saturday, July 6, after a southbound car was reported to have gone over the guard rail, rolled over and plummeted into the woods.

The two occupants of the vehicle were both transported to the hospital. One was airlifted, while the other was transported by ambulance, according to Nathan Wulff, deputy chief of Unionville Volunteer Fire Company.

One patient was able to walk up from the embankment. Paramedics were able to retrieve the other patient, who had been ejected from the vehicle, using ropes and a stokes basket.

Both the north- and southbound lanes of Route 8 were shutdown at 4:10 p.m. as crews tried to retrieve the patient.

Wulff named Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team, West Sunbury Volunteer Department, Butler Ambulance Service and STAT MedEvac as the departments that responded to the scene alongside Unionville’s fire department. State police also responded, according to dispatch.
