Edith G. Menck
Edith Garvin Menck, 89, passed away Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Originally from Middlesex Township, Edith was baptized, confirmed and married in Glade Run United Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown. She was pianist and organist of the church for many years and was superintendent of the children's division of the church school. She was a charter member of the Women's Club of Southern Butler County and served in various offices.
Edith was an executive secretary and accountant for the A-Penn Oil Co., East Butler, for 25 years and then moved to Fort Lauderdale, where she was a private secretary and accountant to the Festus Stacy family.
In 1969, she married Herman O. Menck of Milwaukee, Wis., and lived there in the summers. In 1975, the Mencks permanently moved to Fort Lauderdale and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, the Fort Lauderdale Country Club and became life members of the Fort Lauderdale Symphony Society.
Edith was active in both the community and the church and was a past moderator of the Presbyterian Women of First Church.
Herman passed away in 1990.
Edith is survived by two loving stepsons, Werner H. Menck (Willa) of Cedarburg, Wis., and Herman R. Menck (Cynthia) of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; six grandchildren: Jocelyn Menck Taylor and Dana Menck (Sun), both of Los Angles, Walter E. Menck (Kelly) of San Diego, Eric Menck of Studio City, Calif., Linda Menck of Milwaukee and Claire Menck of Vermont.
Also surviving are a sister, Genevieve Garvin (Isaac) and family of Pittsburgh; cousins, Luther Shoop and family and Warren Shoop and family, both of Pine Hills, Mass., Hazel Mae Muhleman and family of Indianapolis, Ind., and Coshocton, Ohio; as well as many other family and friends in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Illinois and Florida.
She also is survived by a sister-in-law, Gertrud Menck Maetschke of Hamburg, Germany; and a brother-in-law, Hans Walter Menck of Lugano, Switzerland.
<B>MENCK</B> — A memorial service for Edith Garvin Menck, who died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale with interment in Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, PA 16059.Arrangements are by the <B>Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home & Cremation Service</B>, Fort Lauderdale.
