Alfred F. 'Red' Young
Alfred F. “Red” Young, 87, of Numine in Armstrong County died Tuesday in VNA Hospice, Butler.
He was born June 14, 1924, in Fairview Township, son of the late George E. and Margaret C. (Leichlightner) Young.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Moose Lodge of Chicora. He enjoyed golfing and life.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Co., retiring in 1989.
Surviving are a son, Gerald Young and his wife, Barbara of Valencia; four daughters, Rebecca Rhodes and her husband, Paul, of Numine, Debra E. Hill-Callen of Sarver, Virginia Kellar and her husband, Kenneth, of Sagamore, Armstrong County, and Patricia Galbraith and her husband, Christopher, of New Bethlehem; nine grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; and six sisters, Loretta Hiles of Phoenix, Ariz., Donna Weiland and husband, Lee, of Beaver, Patricia McGinnis and her husband, Lee, of Chicora, Dorothy Ekas and her husband, Dean, of Chicora, Catherine Grecco and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, and Bernadette Hartwell of Morgantown, Berks County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna B. Young, who died July 20, 1998, his parents, seven brothers and one sister.
