Kelly introduces resolution for House probe into attempted assassination of Trump
A resolution to formally establish a task force charged with investigating the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at the Butler Farm Show grounds on July 13 has been introduced by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th.
The announcement follows Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s announcement on July 17 of his plans to set up the special bipartisan task force, which will have subpoena power.
Kelly said a task force has fewer procedural hurdles than a committee or commission, allowing it to conduct its work more efficiently.
“The goals of my legislation and of this task force are simple: to investigate, detail, and explain the shooting and security breakdowns that tragically killed one person, injured two others, and nearly claimed President Trump's life,” Kelly said. “We must never let something like this happen again.”
