BMH recognized for stroke care
Independence Health System’s Butler Memorial Hospital received the American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines — Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award.
To receive the award, hospitals must demonstrate adherence to stroke care standards outlined by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. BMH has met those standards for the past 15 years, earning its first Gold Plus award in 2009.
BMH treats more than 300 stroke patients annually and is recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care as a certified primary stroke center. Independence Health System’s Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland hospitals also received the Gold Plus award. The health system treats more than 1,000 stroke patients every year.
