Miller

Richard C. Miller, 90, of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot, formerly of Meridian, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Butler, to the late J. Fred Miller and Nora Bauer Miller.

Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He attended Kent State University, taking courses in photo journalism. He also attended night school at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Miller was a photographer and salesman, and he founded and operated Modern-Ad which distributed wholesale picture post cards.

He was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, were he was a member of the Missions Committee. Mr. Miller volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the MORA Club, AARP, the Tanglewood Center and the 60 PLUS group. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.

Mr. Miller is survived by three sons, Bron Miller and his wife, Deb, of Meridian, Gary Miller and his wife, Lyn, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Tim Miller and his wife, Sue, of Mauldin, S.C.; one daughter, Priscilla Cary and her husband, Fred, of Wilmington, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia M. Miller, who passed away March 26, 2001; his second wife, Opal Miller, who passed away Dec. 10, 2005; one daughter, Rebekah Norris; one grandson, Scott Miller; three sisters; and three brothers.

MILLER — Friends of Richard C. Miller, who passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, with Pastor Barry Keurelainen of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. The burial will take place in Gruenwald Cemetery.The family suggests donations in his memory be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, PA 16023, or to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
