SEVEN FIELDS — A project three years in the making has been completed at the Seven Fields Town Park Pool, 390 Castle Creek Drive.

The renovation project started in 2022, borough manager Tom Smith said, with phase one and two of the project completed in 2023 and phase three finished on June 10, when the pool reopened.

"I think it was time,“ Smith said. ”With the age being 30 some years old, council felt it was time to reinvest being an amenity that was recognized by the residents that we wanted to continue to make it a centerpiece."

The funding for renovations during phase three came from the Pennsylvania Department of Community Economic Development’s $250,000 Local Share Account Grant, which distributes gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest.

In total the project cost over $400,000, with $68,668 spent on phase one, $90,534 on phase two and $250,000 spent on phase three.

Dawn Servello, vice president of the borough council, said she was very appreciative of the help the borough got from state Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, and Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, who helped secure the $250,000 grant.

"That last phase was a no-match grant, and we could not have done it without that,“ Servello said.

Borough councilman Morgan Hardesty said he believes residents are very pleased with the changes to the pool.

"They tore up all the concrete starting in April,“ Hardesty. ”That's all new and stripped down the interior of the pool and redid the tile for the race lines. The slide is brand new. We went a few summers without a slide. Now we have this fantastic jumbo slide."

Other upgrades from phase three included electrical work and a new filtration system.

Phases one and two of the project were designed to renovate the clubhouse, which houses the concession stand area, park bathrooms, pool locker rooms and landscaping.

Hardesty said there was significant cost savings to the borough in having the work done in the clubhouse by members of the borough public works department.

The borough spent money on the materials, Smith said, but the work was done by its own workers.
