Jennie M. Assid
Jennie M. Assid, 91, of Lincoln Avenue died at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.
She was born in New Castle, July 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Thomas Harkless and the late Charlotte Stewart Harkless.
Mrs. Assid worked at Morgan's Diner, later known as Digger's Diner, at the corner of Washington and Jefferson streets in Butler, where she was a waitress for seven years.
She then moved to Phoenix and worked 11 years for the Marriott Cafeteria and Honeywell Catering until she retired in 1970.
She was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Bruin.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennie Robertson and her husband, Thomas, of Butler and Melody Ohlund and her husband, Pete, of Mountainview, Wyo.; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ella Adams of Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by two sons, three grandsons, a sister and six brothers.

Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Martinsburg Church, 128 Main St., Bruin, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Matt VanGorden, pastor, officiating.
