Pirates trade RHP Quinn Priester to Red Sox for prospect Nick Yorke
Boston acquired right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor league infielder/outfielder Nick Yorke on Monday, one day before the MLB trade deadline, in an exchange of former first-round draft picks. The Red Sox then optioned Priester to Triple-A Worcester.
Priester was 2-6 with a 5.04 ERA in 10 games for the Pirates, the last four of them in relief after six starts. He was the 18th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Yorke, the 17th pick in the 2020 draft, has hit a combined .278 with 10 homers and 46 RBIs in 83 minor league games, with starts at second base, left field and designated hitter.
