Pittsburgh man sentenced for trying to solicit sex from agent posing as juvenile girl

A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to serve 12 to 24 months in state prison Thursday, Aug. 8, after he pleaded guilty to charges Cranberry Township police filed after he agreed to meet someone who he thought was a 14-year-old girl who actually was an FBI agent for sexual activity.

Yuksel Tasdemir, 30, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to felony unlawful contact with a minor. He was sentenced in Butler County Common Pleas Court remotely from the county prison where he was being held on $500,000 bail with the assistance of a Turkish interpreter.

He also was found to be Tier 2 sexual offender under Megan’s Law, and ordered to report to state police for the next 25 years.

After having explicit conversations with agents posing as a 14-year-old girl, Tasdemir was arrested July 21 last year in Cranberry Township after he agreed to meet her, police said.

Agents told police that they had been in communication with Tasdemir through various social media platforms since July 18.

He was given credit for having served 385 days in jail. His conviction could impact his ability to remain in or return to the country because he is not a U.S. citizen, according to his attorney.
