Evans City man facing nearly 400 child pornography, related charges
An Evans City man has been charged with nearly 400 counts of possessing and sharing child sexual abuse photos and videos.
The state police bureau of criminal investigation on Wednesday charged Joshua D. Anderson, 36, with 380 counts of child pornography, 16 of disseminating photos of child sex acts and three counts of criminal use of a communication facility — all felonies.
Investigators said a tip sent on Oct. 10, 2022, from Internet Crimes Against Children, also known as ICAC, which received the information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, revealed three files containing suspected child pornography were uploaded to a Twitter account. The account user’s address, phone number and other information were also provided, according to an affidavit.
Police traced the information to Armstrong, which was subpoenaed and provided the subscriber’s name, address and phone number.
On Jan. 3, 2023, ICAC sent police another tip saying that 215 files containing suspected child pornography were uploaded to a Google Photos account. The account user’s name, internet provider address and phone number matched those on the Twitter account, according to the affidavit.
Police said the uploaded files included photos and videos of nude prepubescent females and young pubescent females, and most of the videos showed explicit content.
On March 3, 2023, police served a search warrant at the address linked to the internet accounts and investigators interviewed Anderson.
He admitted that any pornographic material associated with the IP address was his and that he saved and shared the material, according to the affidavit. Anderson said he used different user names on different social media sites to obtain the material, and he saved about 1,000 images in to his desktop computer and cellphone, according to the affidavit.
Anderson was released on $25,000 unsecured bail at his arraignment, and his preliminary hearing is schedule for Sept. 4 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
