Gerald (Jerry) Thomas Shaw

Gerald (Jerry) Thomas Shaw

Gerald (Jerry) Thomas Shaw passed into his heavenly father's arms Jan. 16, leaving behind his wife of 57 years, Sandy Plasick Shaw.

Jerry was born in Natrona, Pa., on Nov. 19, 1940, and was a son of the late John and Phyllis Woodman Shaw.

He grew up in Frazier Township and graduated in 1958 from East Deer High School.

Jerry worked very hard all his life to provide for his family. He was a mechanic in the coal mines for 20 years while being a self-employed and self- taught carpenter, building many homes in the Sarver and Saxonburg area.

He retired in 2002 to his dream state of Florida with no more cold and snow. For the last 10 years, his home was in the Villages, Fla., the playground for retirees. He enjoyed the sunshine, playing Pickleball, golfing and singing Karaoke.

One of the greatest joys in his life was watching his children and grandchildren in their activities, and he was very proud of their accomplishments in life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lori Shaw Perschke and Jodi Wray (fiancé Shawn Peters) of Saxonburg and Thomas and Melissa (Lang) Shaw of Florida; six grandchildren, Natalie and Annie Perschke and Alec Wray of Saxonburg, Mitchell Shaw (fiancée Chelsea Elsasser) of Sarver, and Cole Shaw (fiancée Brittany Freed) and Delaney Shaw of Florida; and one great-grandchild, Piper Perschke-Bruce of Saxonburg.

Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack and Jim Shaw; and infant sister, Phyllis Ann.
