Mary L. McBride
Mary Louise Pierce McBride, 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Saturday at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon, after a 30-year battle with diabetes.
Born Sep. 9, 1919, in Butler, she was the daughter Ellis E. and Elsie E. McKee Pierce of Harrisville.
She and her husband lived in Grove City until 1967, when her husband was transferred to Mount Vernon for the Cooper-Bessemer Co. She also had been a winter resident of the St. Petersburg, Fla., area since 1981, when she and her husband retired.
Mrs. McBride had been an avid golfer at the Grove City Country Club and the Mount Vernon Country Club and was a past winner of the Ladies Country Club Championship.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn L. (Gene) James; a granddaughter, Julie A. (Mark) Bingham; two great-granddaughters, Emily G. and Molly A. Bingham; and a brother-in-law, John (Ruth) McBride, all of Mount Vernon.
Also surviving are a sister, Jean McFadden of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Raymond E. "Bunk" Pierce of the R.E. Pierce Trucking Co. of Harrisville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William W. "Wink" McBride, who died in 2001; her mother who died 1987; her father of the E.E. Pierce Trucking Co., who died in 1976; and a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Walters Pierce, who died in 1989. All were of Harrisville.
A brother-in-law, Lester McFadden of Orlando, Fla., died in 2001; and a niece, Beverly J. McBride Fowler of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died in 1993.
