Loan sought for renovations at Michelle Krill field
Improvements are coming to Butler’s ballpark.
Administrators of the City of Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds & Facilities Authority voted Monday, Aug. 26, to seek a loan to pay for improvements, including new turf and roof repairs, to Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.
The authority approved applying for the $400,000 loan from NexTier Bank, which the authority will use to make capital investments at the field with the intention to increase revenue.
“I think it's long overdue,” said Butler City Councilman Don Shearer, who is council’s liaison for the authority.
The loan will be used to install new turf on the field, repair the facility’s HVAC system and fix the facility’s roof. The funds also will allow the authority to refinance its mortgage.
Shearer said a representative of the authority will attend a future city council meeting to highlight how the loan could improve the park and its revenue.
City council will then consider co-signing on the loan for the authority, Shearer said.
“We’re asking them to put together a presentation on ... what they were going to use (the money) for and how they are going to impact revenues,” he said.
