Harmony Museum annex opens in 1970
The Aug. 31, 1970, opening of an annex to the Harmony Museum, the Wagner Annex, was met with excitement from hundreds of people wanting to view the craft exhibits the new area would house.
Doc Stewart cut the ribbon for the new annex, and Aug. 29, 1970, was proclaimed Doc Stewart Day by the mayor of Harmony, for the doctor’s role in maintaining the museum.
The ribbon-cutting event Aug. 31 was followed by tours of the new space. Stewart greeted everyone who visited.
