Butler County high school football roundup Week 2: Owen Bish leads Union/A-C Valley to first win; Moniteau, Seneca Valley fall

Owen Bish showed off his two-way skills in Union/A-C Valley’s win Friday night.

The senior quarterback and defensive back contributed to two touchdowns, on both sides of the ball, in a 14-6 Week 2 win over Ridgway/Johnsonburg.

Both scores came within minutes of each other in the second quarter. Bish threw a touchdown pass to Aidan Fox to put UAC up 7-0, then Bish recovered a fumble and returned it 74 yards to pay dirt, the decisive score of the night for the Falcon Knights (1-1).

Bish finished 5 of 12 passing for 62 yards, the TD and an interception. Max Gallegher led the team rushing (six carries, 48 yards), receiving (two receptions, 37 yards) and defensively (12 tackles, two tackles for loss). Fox also had eight tackles and two interceptions.

North Hills 13, Seneca Valley 6 — It was another tough day for Seneca Valley’s offense.

The Raiders dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 13-6 loss at North Hills (2-0), generating just 169 yards of offense. Quarterback Andrew Loebig did generate 72 yards and a 4-yard rushing touchdown on 22 carries. But North Hills’ defense held the passing game to just 35 yards on Loebig’s 5-of-15 passing.

Cayden Parker had eight carries for 58 yards for the Raiders and had a sack and forced fumble on defense. North Hills’ Julius Green rushed for a 25-yard touchdown and Jack Martin added a 27-yard score before SV got on the board.

Bradford 54, Moniteau 8 — Quarterback Brendin Sankey threw for more than 200 yards and connected with receiver Isaiah Thompson for an 80-yard touchdown in the second quarter, but that was all the offense the Warriors could produce, falling to 0-2.

Thompson had 94 yards and Trent Beacham had eight receptions for 100 yards, according to head coach Bob Rottman. The game was delayed at one point due to lightning.

Derry 21, Freeport 7 The Yellowjackets fell to 1-1 on the season with Friday’s road loss.
