Hope Powell King, 84, of Valencia passed away May 7.

She is survived by her brother, Lewis (Pam) Powell of Springfield, Ore.; her daughter, Kristi Karsh of Wexford; her son, Michael (Pam) King of Wexford, and was the loving nana to seven grandchildren, Colby, Molly, Joshua, Ali, Jesse, Madi and Caleb.

Born in Bradford, Pa., she grew up in State College, Pa., and held degrees from Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh.

Hope was the middle school counselor at the Mars School District for many years and was honored as the PA Middle School Counselor of the Year in 1995.

Hope remained very active in retirement, traveling extensively and going on various adventures with her fellow birders, paddlers and skiers.

KING — A memorial service for Hope Powell King, who died Thursday, May 7, 2015, will be at 2 p.m. May 31 at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Pittsburgh.The family suggests contributions be made to the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania.Arrangements have been entrusted to the H.P.
