Theodore W. “Ted” Ryan
Theodore W. “Ted” Ryan, 62, of Karns City, passed away Monday.
He was born in Butler March 5, 1955, the son of Donald C. Ryan of Karns City.
He was a 1973 graduate of Karns City High School. In his earlier years, Ted was first employed by Tri-City Speedway. He was a longtime truck driver and a skilled mechanic who worked for many years at the family business, Ryan's Garage in Haysville. Most recently, Ted was employed at Diehl Automotive in Butler.
Ted enjoyed racing and was a well-known favorite as car 76 racing modifieds at Lernerville and other race tracks in Western Pennsylvania. He enjoyed working on cars and watching westerns, especially John Wayne and Zane Grey.
Ted most especially loved the company of his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
In addition to his father, Ted is survived by his wife, Karen L. Hobaugh Ryan, whom he married in Karns City Sept. 16, 1978.
Also surviving are his son, Jared S. Ryan and his wife, Jessica; his daughter, Koren R. Ryan; two grandchildren, Cayden and Maddisyn Ryan, all of Karns City; three brothers, Larry Ryan and his wife, Sue, of Beaver Falls, Russ Ryan and his wife, Cathy, of Petrolia, and Ken Ryan and his wife, Sue, of Karns City; a sister, Janice Hilderbrand and her husband, Larry, of Fenelton; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Ted was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Etheleen “Sis” Hobaugh.
RYAN — A private family visitation and funeral service officiated by the Rev. Jim Lewis, pastor of Karns City United Methodist Church was held Thursday morning at Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St.Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial contributions may be made to the Theodore W.
