Mary C. Lawther, 83, of Mars died Sunday morning, Feb. 22, 2004, at LAS/St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born in Confluence, Somerset County, July 29, 1920, she was the daughter of Adam and Nancy Close Parnell.

She had been a laborer at Pittsburgh Cut Flower and the James Austin Co. She was a Catholic.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Dianne) Muhr of Cameron, W.Va., Donna Kielek of Saxonburg, Mrs. William (Darlene) Ritchie of Mars and Mrs. David (Deena) Fries of Petrolia; a son, Kenneth Shoemaker of Valencia; and a sister, Thelma Margruff of Confluence. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a sister.
