High school sports roundup: Hanna Dailey scores 4 goals in Karns City girls soccer rout

Hanna Dailey connected for four goals, Layla Colsey two, and Aubrey Price, Aysha Vavro and Katelyn VanDyke one each as Karns City girls soccer downed Clarion 9-1 Tuesday.

VanDyke had four assists, Sarah Dodd added two, and Dailey, Price and Lucas one each. The Gremlins next play DuBois at home Saturday.

Girls Volleyball

Grace Agostino had a pair of aces and nine kills as A-C Valley girls volleyball downed Forest in three sets Tuesday night, the scores being 25-10, 25-10 and 25-10. Gianna Louise added another two aces and five kills, and Ava Snyder five aces and a kill in the win.

Cranberry 3, Moniteau 2 — The Berries battled back from down two sets, overcoming the Warriors by scores of 19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 15-4. Sophia Fleeger had five kills, three aces and 20 assists for Moniteau, while Lily Staab had nine kills, an ace and three digs.

North Catholic 3, Mars 0 — Lily Javor had nine kills and Cecilia Christy five as the Planets fell by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-15.

Plum 3, Knoch 0 — No other details were provided for this match.

Armstrong 3, Seneca Valley 2 — No other details were provided for this Raiders loss.

Boys Soccer

Freeport edged out Armstrong 3-2 with a pair of goals by Angelo Porco and another by Trey Schreckengost. Dante Treglia helped with each marker.

Butler 2, West Mifflin 1 — Thomas Sheptak and Mason Anderson both scored and assisted on one another’s goals in the Golden Tornado’s win.

Golf

By posting 40s, Union/A-C Valley’s Joe Rapp and Karns City’s Chloe Fritch tied for the best individual score in the Butler County area at Tuesday’s KSAC Mega Match No. 5, held at Aubrey’s Dubb Dredd Golf Course.

The Falcon Knights had a 237 team score, 36 strokes behind first-place Clarion. Moniteau finished right behind Union/A-C Valley in fifth (245) and the Gremlins eighth (255). The Warriors were paced by Connor Ealy’s 41, and Joey O’Donnell added the same for Karns City.

Freeport 197, Leechburg (forfeit) — Cam Zigo registered a 38 and Aiden Bauman and Carson Kane 39s at the Links at Spring Church. The Yellowjackets move to 9-1 (8-0 in section).

Sharon 19, Slippery Rock (boys) 44 — The Rockets’ Hunter Doerflinger, a junior, finished second with a course time of 19:21.

Slippery Rock (girls) 15, Sharon incomplete — Slippery Rock junior Leah Perez posted a course time of 23:06, finishing second. Teammate and sophomore Rebecca Springirth had a mark of 23:33.

North Allegheny 5, Mars 0 — The Tigers swept the match, dropping the Planets to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in section play.
