Hugh J. “James” Kerr, 75, of Springdale Township, Allegheny County, passed away Tuesday at the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.

He was born Nov. 3, 1935, in New Kensington to the late James C. and Mary Shaul Kerr, and he was a lifelong resident of the area.

Jim formerly was employed as a truck driver with Freeport Trucking for 14 years and a school bus mechanic with the Deer Lakes School District for 22 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during peace time.

Mr. Kerr was a member of the Springdale United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Cheswick-Springdale Lions Club.

Survivors include his children, James Steven (Kelly) Kerr, Debra (John) Hilliard and Susan Marie (Jim) Black, all of Fenelton, and Linda Lee Kerr of Butler; stepdaughters, Karen Maser of Butler and Darlene (Jeff) Fritz of Springdale; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Jean Kerr; a sister, Rachel Kerr; and a grandson, Bryan Kerr Barnhart.

<B>KERR</B> — Family and friends of Hugh J. “James” Kerr, who died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME</B>, 801 Pittsburgh St., Springdale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Springdale United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township.
