KARNS CITY — Karns City football’s bid for a 3-0 start will have to wait.

Friday’s home tilt against St. Marys was officially postponed due to severe weather in Butler County that forced delays, cancellations and postponements of several other games. Officials for both teams are attempting to find a makeup date but did not have one as of Friday night, according to Eagle correspondent John Enrietto.

The game was delayed even before kickoff because of lightning and wasn’t called off until around 8:05 p.m.

The National Weather Service at 6:40 p.m. issued a severe storm warning for southern Butler County until 9 p.m.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the status of the game; Karns City and St. Marys are attempting to reschedule the game for a later date.
