SHANKSVILLE — The National Park Foundation says the campaign to raise money for the Flight 93 National Memorial is over.
The group said today that $40 million in private funds has been raised for the memorial, with the help of more than 110,000 individuals as well as foundations and corporations.
The memorial honors the 33 passengers and seven crew members killed when the plane crashed into a field on Sept. 11, 2001, after passengers fought back against hijackers.
Construction is ongoing at the memorial. Groundbreaking for a visitor center is slated for this week.
PHILADELPHIA — The two-term mayor of Allentown has jumped into the 2014 race for governor in Pennsylvania.Democrat Ed Pawlowski formally announced his decision Sunday.Pawlowski says he has seen the state's problems firsthand as president of the Pennsylvania Municipal League.He says he's added 80 police officers to the Allentown force during his tenure, reduced crime and reversed an $8 million budget deficit.
