Sauer

Joseph L. Sauer, 87, of Mars died Sunday at the St. John Specialty Care Center.

Born April 16, 1921, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Catherine S. Huber Sauer.

Mr. Sauer retired in 1981 from J&L Steel, and he was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by five sons, Joseph H. of Harmony, John H. of Pittsburgh, James (Pam) of Butler, Robert A. of Tallahassee, Fla., and Donald P. of Raleigh, N.C.; four daughters, Margaret (Tom) Marlowe of Harmony, Mary (Ken) DeFonde of Ellwood City, Peggy (Dan) Weigle of Mars and June Thompson of Harmony; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Gregg Sauer, in 1981; and a grandson, Joey.
