Iva Fay Gumbert
Iva Fay Gumbert, 87, of Plateau Street in Renfrew, died at 7 a.m. Friday at the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.
Born May 11, 1920, in Butler, she was a daughter of Herman and Etta Bartely Hendricks.
Mrs. Gumbert served as an Army nurse in London during World War II. She also was a nurse at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler Township.
She was a member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church since April 14, 1960.
Mrs. Gumbert volunteered much of her time at the Butler County Humane Society, where she was able to foster her love for animals, especially dogs.
She is survived by her beloved, Jake, a miniature schnauzer; a number of nieces and nephews; a number of cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Earl" Gumbert, who died Sept. 13, 2000; a sister, Marry Morgan; a brother, Walter Bartley, and a nephew, Michael Morgan.
<B>GUMBERT —</B> Friends of Iva Fay Gumbert, who died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, </B>124 E. North St. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Cahoon, pastor of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
