NEW YORK — Martha Stewart is heading to cable.
The lifestyle queen has signed a deal to move her daily program to the Hallmark Channel, effective this September. "The Martha Stewart Show" is currently syndicated to broadcast channels across the country.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Hallmark.
After Stewart's show, Hallmark will air 90 minutes of programming created by Stewart's production company.
Stewart's move echoes that of fellow daytime star Oprah Winfrey, who is leaving her syndicated show next year and will set up shop at a network created for her by Discovery Communications.
NEW YORK — NBC says it has a deal with Conan O'Brien to produce a possible series, only days after his rancorous exit as host of the network's "Tonight Show."NBC is picking up a pilot from O'Brien's production company, Conaco. The drama, as yet untitled, focuses on a Supreme Court justice who leaves the bench to start his own practice.Casting has yet to be announced for the pilot, which is bucking for a series slot on NBC's fall schedule.Despite O'Brien's recent split from NBC as an on-camera star, he retains a development deal with the network.
NEW YORK — Jennifer Lopez will play a self-help expert on an episode of the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother" in March.The actress-singer portrays Anita Appleby, a no-nonsense author who tries to "train" men into better behavior in relationships. Her target is Neil Patrick Harris' playboy-bachelor character, Barney: Appleby makes it her mission to break him.The exact date of Lopez's episode hasn't been set. The Monday-night comedy recently reached a milestone with its 100th episode.
