Cranberry Twp. Police10:05 p.m. Saturday — Matthew R. Schenck, 31, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly shoplifted a vacuum cleaner from the Wal-Mart on Route 19.Employees confronted Schenck and a suspected accomplice, police said. He dropped the Dyson vacuum cleaner, valued at $475.94, and ran.The accomplice, a woman, got into a car nearby and drove away. She is accused of later picking up Schenck, according to court documents.An Evans City police officer minutes later stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Route 68.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Schenck on a charge of retail theft. He also is charged with placing a bogus license plate on the car that he was riding in when arrested. He is free on $1,500 bail.Police apparently did not arrest the woman who was with Schenck. It was not immediately known if she would be charged in the case.
State Police, ButlerOct. 31 — A thief stole a company-owned dump truck from the Brayman Construction parking lot in Jefferson Township. The truck is white with blue lettering designating the company name, and has the Pennsylvania license plate YMG6605.Anyone who has seen the truck is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Oct. 30 — A Nintendo Wii video game system and five video games were stolen from a home on Game Reserve Road in Clearfield Township. The theft happened between Sept. 19 and Oct. 30.
State Police, ClarionWednesday — An unknown burglar made off with unspecified property from a home on Henry Road in Toby Township. The break-in and theft happened between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
