Aiden Bartley

Bartley

Aiden Richard Bartley, 11, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, in the evening as the sun was setting, surrounded by his family after a long two-year battle with stage 4 adult pancreatic cancer.

To say Aiden will be missed is an understatement. Aiden brought so much joy to his friends, family and those he never met. He was a Pokémon fanatic and visited many card stores all over the country, including his favorite, Big League Cards, in Florida.

He was a sixth-grade student at Butler Intermediate High School, where he excelled in his academics. Aiden was the definition of a true warrior, a superhero. He had a passion for cooking, creating new dishes for us to judge and try. He enjoyed gaming online on Roblox, Nintendo switch and Meta with his three best friends, Silas, Bryce and Paxton. His dream was to become a famous YouTuber.

Aiden was a kind, generous and loving soul, and a huge fan of pork chops and steak. His favorite thing besides Pokémon was playing dek hockey. As he fought cancer, he played dek hockey this past spring for Butler Township Dek Hockey, like his dad. He was an avid animal lover. His cat, Double Stuff Oreo, stayed with him in bed as he fought back against the disease. His favorite song, “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, was played during his time at the hospital, a song fitting of a true fighter. Aiden was a true inspiration to all those who followed his journey, and he would want us to continue fighting for those who are still in the clutches of this horrible disease.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Megan (Bush) Bartley; his little sister, Carmella; and his little brother, Jack; grandparents, Connie and Doug Wetzel, Daniel Bush and Mike and Sharon Bartley; uncles, Marc (Jessica) Bush, Derek Bush, Nick (Stephanie) Bartley, Steve (Ashley) Bartley and Dillon Wetzel; his aunt, Samantha Wetzel; and cousins, Caleb Bush, Brantley, Melody and Cooper Bush, and Ravenna and Wyatt Wetzel. He also is survived by numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Aiden was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, two of which were his namesakes. Go catch ’em all, buddy!
